Focus was placed on differentiating service types, in order to represent how frequently trains will arrive and depart from each station. It has the additional benefit of showing what trips can be completed on a single train, and what trips will require a transfer.
The Atlas was developed in Rhino 6 by tracing over map images from Google Maps and Amtrak, with the icons being developed in a similar way (by tracing over images and clipart icons). Route and station information was gathered from Apple Maps, Amtrak, Google Maps and Wikipedia. Generative AI was not used anywhere in the development of the Atlas.
All material designed and developed by Blake Harris, with thanks to Max Coolidge and Natalie Fox for their design input.
